Wake up to a rejuvenating Vegan Mango Orange Smoothie that has a creamy texture and fresh flavor from ginger and citrus fruit.

This post is sponsored by So Delicious. All opinions are my own.

Lately, I’ve been feeling inspired by all of the delicious winter citrus that’s available this time of year. Our kitchen is currently loaded with oranges, mandarins, grapefruit, and lemons from Sprouts. I’m not complaining.

I especially love oranges at breakfast time because they’re just so refreshing and rejuvenating. The best way to start off the day. I’ve also been drawn toward morning meals that only take a few minutes to prepare, which is why I love making smoothies. Even during the winter when it’s cold out. I can always go for a cool and refreshing breakfast in the morning.

You could say this Mango Orange Smoothie is winter-friendly since it’s packed with immune-boosting nutrients like beta-carotene and vitamin C.

It’s also super creamy, thanks to the addition of So Delicious® yogurt alternative. Most of the time I use some type of milk when I make smoothies, but this time I used dairy-free yogurt and fresh-squeezed orange juice instead. The result is kind of like an orange creamsicle smoothie. So, so good.

How to Make a Vegan Mango Orange Smoothie

There’s really only a few minutes of real work needed to make this Mango Orange Smoothie. First, grate the peel of one large navel orange. You’ll also need to grate a one-inch piece of fresh ginger (unless you plan on using ground ginger instead).

Once you’re finished grating, use a manual juicer or your hands to squeeze 4 large navel oranges or as many as you need to get one full cup of juice.

Next, add all of the ingredients to the blender container, cover, and blend on high for about one minute, or as long as needed to get the smooth and creamy texture we’re after.

What to Do if Your Smoothie is Too Thin or Too Thick:

Want to know how I always get the right creamy texture when I make smoothies? This trick will help you make smoothies without needing a recipe.

If your smoothie turns out too thin, add more frozen or thickening ingredients (such as frozen fruit, ice cubes, or chia seeds) and blend again. If your smoothie turns out too thick, add more liquid (orange juice or water) and blend again.

You can always balance out the texture by tasting and adding a little more of what you need.

Where to Find So Delicious Yogurt Alternative

So Delicious (made by Danone North America, a Certified B Corporation®) has a variety of yogurt alternatives available at most grocery stores. I found mine at Sprouts Farmers Market.

Can you substitute bottled orange juice instead of using fresh oranges in this Mango Orange Smoothie?

Freshly squeezed orange juice gives this smoothie tons of flavor, however, you may substitute with bottled orange juice if you want to cut down the prep time and make this recipe easier. Omit the orange peel if you choose this route.

Can you substitute other types of citrus fruit?

Winter is the best time of year to take advantage of all of the great-tasting citrus fruits. Try subbing in Cara Cara oranges, mandarins, or grapefruit for the navel oranges.

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups So Delicious Unsweetened Vanilla Coconutmilk yogurt alternative
    • 2 cups frozen mango chunks
    • 2 tablespoons grated orange peel (1 large)
    • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (4 large)
    • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
    • 1- inch piece ginger, grated (or 1 ¼ teaspoon ginger powder)

    Instructions

    • Add So Delicious yogurt alternative, mango, grated orange peel, orange juice, chia seeds, and ginger to a blender container. Cover and blend on high 1 minute, or until smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thin, add more mango or chia seeds and blend again. If the smoothie is too thick, add more orange juice (or water) and blend again.

    Notes

Whole juiced oranges give this smoothie its fresh flavor, however, you may substitute with bottled orange juice and omit the orange peel if you want to cut down the prep time and make this recipe easier.
