Dragon Fruit Smoothie (No Banana)
If you love colorful smoothies but don’t love banana, this dragon fruit smoothie is for you. It's thick, creamy, and packed with tropical flavor without relying on banana for sweetness or texture.
This smoothie is ideal for anyone who prefers a banana-free option due to taste, texture, or dietary needs. Instead, it gets natural sweetness and body from frozen raspberries, blackberries, and Greek yogurt, plus fiber and fats from chia seeds. Optional lime juice and fresh ginger add a zingy, refreshing finish.

The star of the show is frozen pink dragon fruit, which gives the smoothie its signature vibrant color and subtly sweet flavor. Blending it with frozen berries and Greek yogurt creates a creamy, spoonable texture without needing banana. Chia seeds offer plant-based omega-3s and staying power, while a splash of lime juice and freshly grated ginger add brightness and depth.
This banana-free dragon fruit smoothie makes a quick and nourishing breakfast, post-workout snack, or refreshing afternoon drink. You can even double the batch and pour leftovers into popsicle molds for a fun, fruity frozen dessert.

Substitutions
- Greek Yogurt: Use any plant-based yogurt (such as coconut, soy, or almond) to make the smoothie dairy-free and vegan. Unsweetened or lightly sweetened varieties both work.
- Almond Milk: Any milk or milk alternative works here—try oat, cashew, soy, or dairy milk depending on your preferences.
- Chia Seeds: Substitute with flaxseeds or hemp seeds for a similar nutrition boost.
- Frozen Berries: If you don’t have blackberries or raspberries, frozen strawberries or blueberries can be used instead.
- Lime Juice/Ginger: Optional but recommended! If you're out, try a splash of orange juice or a pinch of turmeric for a slightly different twist.
Storage
This smoothie is best enjoyed immediately after blending while it’s thick and frosty. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Separation is normal—just shake or stir before drinking.
You can also pour leftover smoothie into popsicle molds and freeze for a refreshing banana-free snack that keeps for up to 2 months.
FAQ
Dragon fruit pairs well with tropical and tart fruits like pineapple, mango, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. These fruits balance its mildly sweet flavor and enhance the smoothie’s bright, fruity profile.
The vibrant pink color typically comes from red or pink-fleshed dragon fruit (pitaya). If your smoothie also includes red berries like raspberries or blackberries, the color will intensify even more.
